Brief comment from the artist here: [link]
For anyone who doesn't know, Reman Mythology was/is a webcomic by Amy Kim Kibuishi (previously Ganter). I discovered it in 2005, not long after she stopped making it. So I never knew the fans or participated in discussions or anything--but I read the whole thing twice, thrice, and scoured every inch of the website for tidbits and sketches until she took the site down too a couple years later. In Internet years 2007 is eons ago, nevermind 2005, yet Reman Mythology still pops into my mind every now and then, and I rarely encounter other webcomics that match its level of awesome.
I cannot overstate how much I love the comic, how much it inspired me to commit my own stories to paper, how much of an influence it was on my art in my tender teenage years. I read it, I made my sister read it, I even badgered friends with no particular interest in comics to read it. The beginning of my own webcomic, which I started in 2006, is so much like RM (girl+boy+strange world+can't go home) that it's kind of embarassing.
I'm sure as I reread it (and I will!) I'll notice flaws, make critiques, and whatever. I'm older and wiser now, a better artist and (I hope!) a better writer. That's to be expected. Still, it's got my wholehearted endorsement. Go, read this comic. Solid worldbuilding, compelling characters, heart--it's all there. RM is unfinished, will never be finished (at least in comic form), but what's there is one hell of a story.
Unrelated PS: I'm out of school and back home at last! More art and stuff coming soon! Witch & Cat returns on the 25th! I maaaay even open for commissions, if anyone is interested! Yay summer! Why is it so cold, Canada?!
